New hair at Rogue and messy mama hair

| 15 July 2015

I’m lucky to usually have good hair and i’m extremely privileged that i’ve worked with number of famous hairdressers such as John Frieda and Charles Worthington. The last time I had my  hair coloured was in January 2014 for a worldwide hair campaign hopefully to be released 2015 (fingers crossed). Then a year later, a few weeks after giving birth I had my hair trimmed. When it started to grow, I noticed the front of my hair was over an inch longer than the other side.

I tried to ignore it for as long as possible because my hair was not on my priority list, as most mothers would agree. We tie it up and spray dry shampoo at the roots and hopefully it stays like that for a few days. After all, brushing my hair would be a chore in itself, so messy hair it is for me. Gone are the days of spending more than 30mins on my hair.

I jumped at the opportunity to have a consultation and have my hair cut and coloured by the fabulous Karen Devlin from Rogue Hair, Belfast. Karen is currently holding the post of L’Oreal ID Artist in Northern Ireland. The team at Rogue have won many awards, including the UK and Ireland L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award. In a nutshell, Rogue is one of the best salons in our wee country.

I was embarrassed to show Karen my terrible two toned, unbrushed and uneven hair that actually felt like a brillo pad. Karen put me at ease and suggested a natural colour to brighten up and lift my hair colour as well as ‘fixing’ my previous hair cut. I asked for it to be shaped around the front so soften my look and it must be able to go back in a pony tail (the practical mummy in me). I really was delighted with the colour and the cut.

Details about my hair.
Karen from Rogue said, “Lucy had a bespoke colour service created and inspired from the L’Oréal blonde boutique menu. The Bayalage board was used with the new freehand prelightening powder to break up the depth through her natural Base at the back and majimeche blonde peices were applied getting closer to the roots as we moved toward the front hairline. The finished result is a perfect blended Bronde!
Lucy’s hair was cut with graduated long layers and a sweeping fringe and finished if with a gorgeous lazy wave blow out”.

I’m terrible at recreating salon hair as I tend to wear my hair up. I’m loving my new hair so I thought id show you a few ‘messy mum’ 30 second hairstyles that I use on the run.
